The Isle of Wight Cycling Festival gives cyclists the opportunity to get off the beaten track and experience some of the Island’s most beautiful, unspoilt countryside.  The festival includes a host of fantastic rides with options for all levels – whether you are a regular cyclist or infrequent rider there is something for everyone!

The Cycling Festival celebrates the Island’s positions as a leading cycling destination – one of the world’s best cycling routes according to Lonely Planet!  With its miles of dramatic and breath-taking coastline, picturesque countryside and over 200 miles of well-maintained and signposted cycle tracks, byways and bridleways, there are plenty of trails for you to explore.  In addition over half of the Island is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sponsored by Red Funnel, Wightlink and Visit Isle of Wight, the event takes place between 5 – 27 September and includes 80 rides, with a great range of family events from fossil rides to story rides, toddlers tea parties and Geocaching by bike.

There are also some great new additions to the programme including a yoga for cyclists ride, mountain bike coaching courses and the Around the Wight Triathlon.  This joins favourites including the Wightlink Wight Challenge, Cycle the Wight and the Cycle Cinema.

During the festival, a team from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service set off on their ‘100There’ part of their fundraising challenge and are giving you the opportunity to join them on their last training ride.
