Round the Island Race 7th July

Round the Island Race This historic yacht race where family sailing boats can be in full sail alongside some of the best sailors and crew in the world. An absolute spectacle of a sight from the cliffs and coast or a day on the water you’ll always remember. If you’re not taking part at the crack of dawn, it’s always worth having a look, find some of the best spots here.

Panerai British Classic Week 14th-21st July

Panerai British Classic Week The next instalment of this summer’s sailing events is the Panerai British Classic. Growing with every year and in its 12th running regatta, this year proves to be another great week for classic yacht lovers and sailing enthusiasts.

Ventnor Fringe 7th-12th August

Ventnor Fringe Photo Credits: Chale Bay Farm Organised by the island’s creative hub, the Ventnor Exchange, this assorted arts festival is a must see, you can even apply to take part. Said to be “rapidly becoming the country’s most surprising and inspirational multidisciplinary arts festival” by The Sunday Times, it’s definitely worth seeing as much as you can over the 6 days. Jack Up the 80’s 10-12th August

Jack Up the 80’s Photo Credits: Red Funnel The ‘family-friendly throwback festival’ that raised over £20,000 towards local charities is back with more fluro than ever before. Garlic Festival 18th-19th August

Garlic Festival Photo Credits: Island Echo The Garlic Festival is where you’ll find all things garlic.. funnily enough, even the ice cream and fudge. But don’t let that put you off before you’ve tried this quaint and equally fun event. There are cooking demonstrations by some of the top chefs on the island, including Robert Thompson and appearances from tv chefs, live music and entertainment for all. Cowes Classic Powerboat Race 25th-26th August

Cowes Classic Powerboat Race Photo Credits: Pinterest August bank holiday will see the 58th year of the prestigious Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race. Some of the fastest and loudest speed demons will take to the Solent at break-neck speeds. If you want to catch them in full flight, make sure to secure a good vantage spot:
  • 09:30 and 15:00 to 17:30- Egypt Point, Isle of Wight
  • 09:35 to 10:00 and 14:45 to 17:30 – Hurst Castle
  • 09:35 to 10:00 and 14:45 to 17:30 – Fort Victoria, Isle of Wight

Eklectica Festival 7th-9th September

Eklectica Festival Photo Credits: Eklectica.live Eklectica is back, new and improved for its second year at Robin Hill. Headliners including, Scouting for Girls, The Noisettes and The Hoosiers on Saturday and The Fratellis, Toploader and Pixie Lott on Sunday. Festival of Light 29th Sept-3rd November
